I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor by the NYS Board of Regents and a National Certified Counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors.  So that alphabet soup after my name means that I am certified to provide mental health counseling in New York State and I am Nationally certified.

 

I've been working in the field of mental health for the past 7 plus years.  I began working in the public sector, primarily with children and families.  I even taught a graduate level class, Child & Adolescent Psychopathology at (my alma mater) SUNY Plattsburgh.  I currently work fulltime as a Counselor at SUNY Plattsburgh.  I enjoy my calling so much, that I decided to open my own limited private practice to continue serving the community I love!

 

I have been using the therapeutic modalities below and have most recently become interested in Animal Assisted/Pet Therapy.  If you visit my practice, you will most likely meet Shelby, my pet dog who is currently being trained with the hopes of becoming a certified Therapy Dog.  If you're not a dog person, please give me a heads up when scheduling your appointment.  

 

In general, I have a warm eclectic approach, which allows me to meet my clients where they are at.  I believe that the therapeutic alliance/relationship is the most fundamental aspect of psychotherapy.
